Die Tage werden gezählt, die Musiker vom “outer space”, THE SUN RA ARKESTRA, die SCHAMANEN und ALASH erreichen das ferne Schweizer Tal Poschiavo. Anfangs der Woche besuchen sie alle Schulen und zeigen ihre Musik den Kindern und Jugendlichen.

Das UNCOOL Festival veranstaltet zeitgenössische Musik aus USA, Asien und Europa Swing und Jazz, sibirischen Kehlkopf- und Obertongesang, Improvisierte Musik, neue CO STREIFF Kompositionen, Poesie und Photographie. Das Festival beginnt an Ascension/Auffahrt am 29. Mai und dauert bis einschliesslich 1. Juni.

Die Konzerte finden in Poschiavo Cinema Rio, Plaza Cumün, Galleria Pgi statt. Am Lago di Poschiavo zelebrierenein Schamanen ein mitternächtliches Feuerritual (Auffahrt). Posaune, Gletscher und Echo erklingen auf Alp Grüm und in Prada sind einheimische DJs zu hören.

Das UNCOOL Festival ist dem wunderbaren Saxophonisten MARSHALL ALLEN gewidmet, dem langjährigen Leiter des legendären SUN RA ARKESTRA, das mit evolutionären, selten gespielten Kompositionen auftreten wird.

Das Festival offeriert an der Rio Bar verschiedene lokale Bio Produkte, ist bemüht, keinen Abfall zu erzeugen und setzt auf den öffentlichen Verkehr: biglietto musica und nächtliche Bus Shuttle zum Nulltarif als Umweltbeitrag!

Damiano Di Simine, Präsident der CIPRA Italia ist Schirmherr des UNCOOL Festival 2003. CIPRA ist die internationale Alpenschutzkommission. Die von ihr mitausgearbeitete Alpenkonvention wurde auch dem Schweizer Parlament zur Ratifizierung vorgelegt. CIPRA publiziert jährlich eine Bestandesaufnahme zum vitalen Zustand der Alpen.

is patron of the UNCOOL Festival

The days are now counted, musicians arrive from “outer space”, THE SUN RA ARKESTRA, the SHAMANS and ALASH reach the far away Swiss valley Poschiavo. Next week they will visit all schools and show the kids and youngsters their music.

The UNCOOL Festival invited contemporary Music from USA, Asia and Europe. The festival makes you experience swing and jazz, siberian throught and overtone singing, improvised music, new CO STREIFF compositions, SUN RA poetry and photography. It starts on Ascension 29th May until the afternoon of June 1st.

The concerts take place in Poschiavo Cinema Rio, Plaza Cumün, Galleria Pgi. At the Lago di Poschiavo a shamanistic fire ritual will be celebrated at Ascension midnight. The tombone, the glacier and the echoes will be heard on Alp Grüm, and in Prada you can enjoy the local DJs.

The UNCOOL Festival is dedicated to the wonderful saxophonist MARSHALL ALLEN, director for many years of the legendary SUN RA ARKESTRA, playing evolutionary and rarely heard music each day of the festival.

The festival offers local organic produced specialities at the Rio Bar, tries to eliminate production of waste, and invests in public transport: biglietto musica and fee free late night shuttle bus as a contribution to the environment!

Damiano Di Simine, President of the CIPRA Italia, is the patron of the UNCOOL Festival 2003. CIPRA is the international commission for the protection of the Alps. The Alpine Convention, coelaborated by CIPRA, was submitted also to the Swiss Parliamanent and awaits ratification. CIPRA publishes each year a summary on the vital condition of the Alps.

Il Festival UNCOOL 2003 si terra a Poschiavo (Cinema Rio / Plaza da Cumün 29 - 31 maggio), al Lago di Poschiavo (29 maggio - ore 20) e sull'Alp Grüm (1° giugno).

Il Festival è dedicato a MARSHALL ALLEN, direttore di THE SUN RA ARKESTRA ed è, in parte, un omaggio al grande musicista SUN RA - partito da questo pianeta 10 anni fa. In quattro concerti, quest'orchestra di 13 musicisti ci porterà all'orecchio il jazz classico SWING, composizioni di Sun Ra e di Marshall Allen raramente eseguite e brani d'avanguardia dei due Leader del Arkestra.

TRUDY MORSE ci accoglierà con alcune considerazioni su SUN RA e MARSHALL ALLEN che ha mantenuta unita l'Arkestra in questi anni. Inoltre, leggerà delle poesie di SUN RA. Nella Galleria PGI saranno esposte fotografie storiche di jazz scattate da JACQUES BISCEGLIA.

Il Festival si aprirà con il suono dei tamburi e un rito di fuoco eseguito delle due sciamane siberiane (Repubblica di Tuva) AI-TCHOUREK e NATASHA. Con loro il gruppo ALASH - tre giovani esperti di canto bifonico gutturale tradizionale, tecnica che già abbiamo avuto occasione di conoscere con Sainkho Namtchylak (1999 e 2002). Ai-Tchourek ci informerà, inoltre, sul significato dei suoni elementari, sulla cultura di Tuva e sul sciamanesimo.

Come sorprese svizzere la sassofonista CO STREIFF e il suo SESTETTO che suonerà nuove composizioni realizzate apposta per UNCOOL e la FILARMONICA AVVENIRE di BRUSIO condotta da OLAF RUPP che suonerà per la prima volta in pubblico della Musica Improvvisata di grande bellezza.

Ritorna in Valposchiavo LOL COXHILL, sassofonista inglese, in un duetto straordinario con OLAF RUPP, chitarrista tedesco che sembra essere il filo rosso dei Festival UNCOOL.

KONRAD BAUER, solista di trombone di fama mondiale della Ex-DDR / Germania ci illuminerà con la sua musica anche all'aperto di fronte ad un panorama senza paragone di montagne e ghiacciai.

Le manifestazioni sono parzialmente accompagnate dei proiezioni video di GÖTZ ROGGE e sono registrati dalla Radio Svizzera di Lingua Italiana - Rete Due.

Durante il Festival, veranno offerti LABORATORI per ragazzi e giovani musicisti condotti da membri della SUN RA ARKESTRA oppure di ALASH (25 CHF/17 Euro).

Il biglietto musica permetterà anche di viaggiare con il trenino rosso della Ferrovia Retica fra Tirano (450 m.s.l.m.) e Alp Grüm (2091 m.s.l.m.). Prezzi del biglietto musica: Festival 150 CHF/100 Euro; Giornaliera 50 CHF/35 Euro; Giornaliera Indigeni 25 CHF/17 Euro; 0-15 anni gratis.
